ABOUT US

The Foundation, originally formed by alumni of the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) College of Agriculture, was organized in 1976.

Since then and through 2012 it has awarded over 1.4 million dollars in scholarships and grants: to students at UNR and other accredited universities; to FFA and 4-H youth groups; for research grants; to support historical writings and other books and white papers relative to Nevada agriculture; and to sponsor various seminars and other educational activities for working farmers and ranchers in Nevada.

The Foundation’s Board of Directors and Officers have the responsibility of assuring that the Foundation’s mission and goals are achieved. All Foundation Directors, Officers and Trustees serve without compensation. Only the Executive Director and certain paid consultants receive compensation. The Foundation is purposefully statewide and is guided by a Board whose members are all actively involved in some phase of agriculture. The Board and Officers, together with a large body of Foundation Trustees and professional consultants, span generations and share a vast and deep knowledge of agriculture and its complexities within the state.

The steady growth of assets of the Foundation has been a result of charitable gifts and through prudent, professional investment of trust funds; however, the Foundation continues to rely upon the generosity of its sponsors to support its work.
